Why Great Photography & Videography Are Everything For Your Business - by Amy Riordan

Whether you wear all of the hats in your business, or you have a large team, the importance of great photography & videography in your business may seem obvious. A detailed website with professional media goes a long way, & having those things for social media can take it the extra mile, but it doesn't stop there. Photography & videography can make or break your business online - it's not just about having any ole content anymore. And, let's face it, whether you're a brick & mortar business or you're solely virtual, online presence is everything in today's world.

It Paints A Clear Picture Of Your Business

What does it mean to have great photography & videography? I doesn't just mean professionally edited work, but vibrant content that sets you apart from the competition. While our digital world can easily show who & where our competitors are, it also provides various opportunities to stand out. As our clients & customers type keywords into Google (& now Instagram) to find businesses, vibrant photos & videos aren't just pretty things to look at, they are everything. People are deciding on businesses based on content now more than ever. You need to paint a clear picture of all that your business has to offer, & you need to do it in a way that hooks them, provides them value & ultimately wins their business.

It Makes You & Your Business More Relatable

Vulnerability is the newest, & in my opinion the most beautiful, trend that's found its way into online marketing. Where we were once, & still occasionally are, looking in envy at the people we follow, we find solace in knowing that some people & businesses are just like us & ours. The struggle IS real! And this allows people to relate to you & your business on another level.

It Keeps Things Current

When I talk about being current with your marketing, I think about dating profiles. The last thing you want to do is catch a customer completely off-guard by looking nothing like your headshot. The same goes with current media of your office building, your employees, the area you live in, etc. Your clients want to see a real time version of your business, & that's also the version you most definitely want to show them regardless of what you do.

It's A Constant Reminder To Visit

The more new content you post, the more you're putting your business out there... the more reminders to your customers & clients that they need to visit your office or store or website. The saying goes, you cannot win the lottery without buying a ticket, but don't forget that you can pick the lottery you enter into based on the odds & even where you buy that ticket. Great photos & videos - ones that are vibrant, applicable to your brand & unique in their own sweet way - are the ones that will take your business furthest online & will be the ultimate reminder that you are the one to go to; that you're the expert in your field & not your competitor.

It's Historical Documentation

This last one may sound boring, but it's important & can easily be made more fun. For example, there are a ton of people on YouTube right now documenting their lives. Maybe now it's time to start documenting your business & all the value that it holds for you, your family & your customers. This can also be a reminder to market your business in a way that you're truly proud of, with quality content that represents your business at its core. And, if you're really curious about documenting your business, check out the KCYP blog post all about Legacy Videos.

Remember, this doesn't have to be professionally edited content; it simply needs to be vibrant & true to all that your business has to offer. And if you really want to put your business on the top, I recommend focusing on videos over photos.
