The legacy video is the newest way to document your family history. Whether it's a series of photos & video clips from the past, an interview with the family members of your choice, or a combination of all of these things, this new "trend" is one I highly recommend jumping on - & not just when it comes to your family. Your business deserves its moment in history as well, & with people documenting their lives & businesses on YouTube, it's easier than ever.
It is very clear as to why people are loving this form of video creation - you're able to capture so much valuable information & so many memories that you can relive over & over again on a free platform. I've even jumped onto the bandwagon, with a five hour video that I created over several afternoons with my Grandparents. My long list of questions allowed me to forever capture the full history of their lives, starting with birth & what they remember about their parents & grandparents. This video is private, with a link only shared to close relatives. It's the ultimate gift to myself & my family, it's so simple, & it's priceless.
While a business legacy video provides value in a different way, it's also priceless & of course you still have that free platform called YouTube! The amazing thing about social media & YouTube is that they both can also be utilized in a very simple way; you do not need a professional videographer to capture the footage, you just need the information to be out there. It can be a series, which I recommend, or it can be a full length feature. Discuss the history of your business, why you started it & what you see in the future. Give your viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the world you've created & tell them why you're so proud of your business. Talk struggles, things you didn't see coming & mention a few really great wins. Think of it as a video that you would film for your family or your children if you wanted them to know all about the business you built, making it very personal & possibly even easier to create. And if you outline a script of some sort, you can easily remove things that might be a little too personal for public viewing.
The most beautiful part of your video(s) is that you are telling your customers why they should choose you & how they can relate to you & your business without them even really realizing it. You are giving them all of the information they need; not just what they are hearing on the streets. I mean, let's be real here, people are going to support businesses that they know & love; this is the ultimate way to show them who you are & all that you stand for.
